I am currently in New Orleans, Louisiana. The total drive from Terrell, Texas was 480 miles. This is the first state with significant amounts of water on the trip. Everywhere else seemed to have more desert than anything else. Just after crossing the border, green trees and bridges started appearing. It is really amazing how many very long bridges exist in Louisiana.
The GPS also took me on one of the most interesting stretches of road on the trip so far. This was a 96 mile drive down a two lane highway through very small town Louisiana. It is a good thing the car was filled up with gas before beginning this segment of the drive. The views included swamps, small farms, and a surprising amount of very dilapidated houses that people clearly still live in.
