The crossover from New Mexico to Texas was very interesting. New Mexico was largely desert with hills and rocks. Almost immediately after crossing the border into Texas the land was flat and being used for some kind of agriculture. I would have expected some sort of gradual change but it did not happen. For any history expert out there, does this explain the weird shape of the top of Texas? Maybe the original Texans knew exactly where to claim their border to optimize land use? Regardless, welcome to Texas.
