I am currently in Terrell, Texas. The total drive from Tucumcara, New Mexico was 511 miles. Finally a 500+ mile day! Barely. The total distance would have been longer except for what happened in Fort Worth, Texas. In Fort Worth, there was one of the worst traffic jams ever. I hit the traffic jam at about 4:45 PM Saturday night and did not escape it until after 9:00 PM Saturday night. I did stop for dinner at 7:00 PM just to try and let the traffic dissipate. It was still there after spending an hour eating dinner. The good part of the experience was that it allowed me the opportunity to see the Dallas skyline at night. It was very impressive.
